Unlike modern precision faceting, which follows carefully calculated designs with specific facet arrangements and angles, Native Cutting takes a more intuitive approach. The cutter works with the natural shape and characteristics of the rough gemstone, often favoring the retention of its original weight while bringing out its color, clarity, and natural beauty.
This traditional approach frequently results in fuller, more rounded pavilions and less standardized facet arrangements, giving each gemstone a character of its own. While Native Cuts generally do not achieve the same degree of optical refinement as modern precision faceting, they reflect a skilled and enduring tradition of craftsmanship, one that continues to play an important role in the world of gemstones.
