Etched Quartz bears the unmistakable traces of change. Shifts in temperature, pressure or chemistry can partially dissolve a once-smooth crystal, carving intricate channels, recesses and patterns across its faces. In many specimens, later growth begins to heal these surfaces, adding another chapter to the crystal’s formation.
